Hearing the voice of God telling me I must go

My eyes glazed with pain, seeing the destruction of my home

The land I loved, the land of my fathers

is now overrun by power-mad rulers

I wait by the sea, a storm blows through my mind

I must decide, make the choice, because my ship sets sail tonight

There’s a land of freedom on the other side

A new world awaits as I leave all this behind

My log book now grows thick as I make my entry

Another day of plague, another body into the sea

Only the strong survive and by now we’re all weak

Up ahead, storm number nine, “Oh Lord deliver us please”

The air of hope grows thin as the crew gasps for land

Something tells me we’ll see it again and a new flag will stand

A government under God, structured from scripture

Justice will be the law when we escape this torture

Tears from the eye of the scope at the first glimpse of land

When we finally came ashore, I remember kissing the sand

It was Canaan with out giants, a new age promised land

but now, as others come, we must do all we can

because our true calling goes beyond crossing the sea

This new world is just a place for us to help others see

He gave us this mission to pursue,

Selfish and provoking thoughts run through the human mind

This is not sin

Without warning they attack a godly desire

but we can win.

Never throw down God’s armor for these thoughts come at random

but they give us a choice

The warning of sin is these thoughts of temptation

so know their voice

but don’t entertain these unwanted guests of your mind

Turn away, Turn to the Lord

Let the Holy Spirit take over and guide your eyes

and fear no more

Understand that Satan is a fisherman of souls

and we’re biting

He bates his hook with an imitation from below

that’s so inviting

When we recognize this trap and still chase the lure

we’re sure to die,

gasping for God as he pulls us from the water

we’ve rationalized a lie

The instant a provoking thought enters your head

the choice is yours.

Your mind is at the balancing point between spirit and flesh

so feed it The Word.

When you’re feeling weak and the world shows you it’s beliefs, look away

Look away from where the darkness shines

Look away from what looks good at the time

Look His way and its peace you’ll find

The cold wind is blowing, within and without

reviewing the memory, a daydream recounts

I didn't mean to hurt her and do the things I did

She was everything that mattered to me

I realized patterns that I said I'd never give

I've become who I never wanted to be

She used to be who I fell in love with

I forced her to change little things

because I wouldn't give

Then her image was gone

self-worth fled from her to get away from me

Losing when trying to gain

I was trying to gain control and self esteem

Who taught me to cause such pain?

Forgive me Father

for I should have known what I'd do

Dreams I've been having

of mother lying in bed,

my father has bruised her again

Now as I awake

I feel God's warm, heeling grace

she doesn't know it's Hell

The sky is white, the clouds are blue

it's paradise that's so untrue

When she's uptight and can take no more

she finds a way through that door

When she's inside, she wants to stay there

because the journey home is a nightmare

She's caught in a trap ‑ She don't understand

Feels good, it's too bad, it's Alice's Wonderland

There's a world not far from here

a place that should be feared

It's not free and it won't last

you'll want more when it's past

Go ask Alice because she should know

it's the place she always goes

This wonderland is a state of mind

substance takes her there all the time

She's caught in a trap ‑ She can't make a stand

Inside of her mind there's a whirlwind
